Netflix Secures NFL Rights Through 2029 in Local Markets

Netflix will broadcast five regular‑season National Football League games through 2029, adding Sunday, Thanksgiving Eve, two Christmas Day contests and a Saturday week‑18 match to its contract that began with two Christmas Day games in 2024. The expansion was announced during the service’s upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday.

The schedule starts with a Week 1 game on September 10, when the Los Angeles Rams face the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia. The Rams also host the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Eve, November 25. Both matches will air at 8:35 p.m. Eastern Time in the United States, with the Melbourne kickoff on September 11 at 10:35 a.m. local time. All five games will be shown in U.S. prime time.

The deal also secures rights to the NFL Honors ceremony, which will shift to a worldwide audience and air Thursday of Super Bowl week. The event presents awards such as MVP, Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, and Coach of the Year.

The full Netflix schedule, including the Christmas Day pairings, will be released on Thursday evening. The Week 18 Saturday games, which also feature ESPN/ABC broadcasts, remain on a later announcement date to protect playoff‑implication matchups. The NFL season schedule was finalized on Tuesday morning.
