Man faces charges in 2019 reality TV car guru’s murder-for-hire hit in Miami-Dade

Man charged with ordering murder of reality TV car expert in Miami.

A 30‑year‑old man named Julian Jimenez was arrested Thursday in Miami‑Dade County on charges related to the 2019 murder‑for‑hire shooting of Alex Vega, a reality‑TV car‑customization expert. Vega was found with a back wound after a gun was fired in his driveway in Kendale Lakes, Miami on August 27, 2019. Surveillance footage showed Jimenez, wearing a mask and gloves, handling a .40‑caliber handgun during the incident.

Jimenez, 30, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Wednesday night, 11:40 p.m. He faces charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of a deadly weapon. The arrest followed a warrant that also listed a separate hold for another agency.

Federal investigation revealed a broader plot involving debt disputes between Vega and business partner Rolando Ramirez. Ramirez’s associate, Rasheed Ali, allegedly arranged the hit in 2018. Jaime Serrano, a former marijuana distributor, was also implicated.

In 2023, a jury found Serrano guilty, and Jimenez pled guilty to federal charges of interstate stalking and weapon use in connection with the crime. U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman sentenced Jimenez to 35 years in prison, while Serrano received a 50‑year term. The case remains closed with both defendants serving their sentences.
