Rod Stewart paused a concert on Friday night at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City, near Salt Lake City. The 81‑year‑old rock star was seen grabbing nearby surfaces while performing and then received an oxygen mask from a crew member. The stage personnel placed the mask over his nose and mouth while he breathed in oxygen.
Observers noted that the venue sits at an elevation of 4,300 feet above sea level, a factor that may have contributed to Stewart’s need for supplemental oxygen. He reported that he nearly fainted during the performance.
After regrouping, Stewart resumed the show, stating that the “show must go on.” He described the incident as a temporary pause rather than a serious medical emergency.
The artist is touring the United States on his One Last Time tour. His next scheduled performance is July 31 at the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York.
