Pinecrest Drivers Steal Vehicles, Escape Police, Crash in Broward.
A pickup crew was caught on security video while targeting cars in Pinecrest, Florida, on the night of May 23. The surveillance footage shows the suspects, wearing ski masks, moving between vehicles outside a residence on Southwest 66th Avenue around 2 a.m. the following Sunday.
A local police officer observed one of the criminals parked a BMW on the wrong side of the road. When the officer approached, the suspects reversed into his cruiser, causing damage, and then fled. Pinecrest police pursued them but lost contact before the vehicle crashed on the intersection of Interstate 95 and Griffin Road in Broward County.
At the crash scene, officers detained one suspect, whose identity has not yet been released. Three other individuals remained at large. Police have confirmed that the BMW’s owner has been identified but has not cooperated with authorities.
The incident occurred in a residential area noted for its perceived safety. Police officials emphasized the importance of securing vehicles, removing visible valuables, and installing security cameras to prevent similar crimes.
