South Florida driver in Cybertruck involved in fatal high‑speed collision

A 21‑year‑old driver collided with two vehicles in southwest Miami‑Dade on Dec. 14 at an intersection near Southwest 56th Street and 122nd Avenue. The driver, Dayron Ramirez‑Mesa, was operating a Tesla Cybertruck when he entered the intersection while the traffic signal was red. Video recovered by police shows the Cybertruck traveling at 97 mph, more than double the posted 40‑mph limit, before striking two cars that were turning left on a green light.

The impact caused fatal injuries to one occupant, Dayana Abreu Perez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver sustained injuries that required medical treatment. Blood samples taken from Ramirez‑Mesa revealed levels above Florida’s legal limit for alcohol.

Miami‑Dade law enforcement released several angles of the crash, depicting the vehicle’s speed and the scene’s aftermath. The footage shows debris scattered and a tire rolling away after the collision.

Ramirez‑Mesa is scheduled to be arraigned in court in late May. No other individuals have been charged, and the investigation is ongoing.
