Investigation clears Pembroke Park aide, calls for return to office.
An independent review of the suspension of Pembroke Park legislative assistant Ashley Sikora concluded that no evidence supported claims she failed to perform her duties. The investigation, completed on April 20 by an outside law firm hired by the town, found that Sikora’s work hours and activities were consistent with her part‑time role. Her responses to the town manager’s query about outside employment were received on February 24, three days before the February 27 deadline, and the investigation determined she complied with the request.
The report noted that Sikora’s remote work arrangement and her Alabama residence were known at hiring, and that town policy does not prohibit outside employment for part‑time staff. Interviews with Sikora and Mayor Geoffrey Jacobs indicated she handled phone calls and emails for the mayor. The findings support a recommendation that the town may restore her to active duty and consider back pay.
The investigation also documented tension between former town manager David Lynch and Mayor Jacobs, but found no evidence of misconduct by Lynch. Lynch is no longer town manager after the commissioners voted to remove him. The town has not yet decided on Sikora’s employment status.
