Unattended bag sparks brief delays at Miami International Airport
An unattended bag was discovered near the North and Central terminals at Miami International Airport on Monday morning, triggering an evacuation of areas 11‑19. Airport security crews cleared the affected zones while maintaining public safety, and the Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies and K‑9 units to inspect the package.
The incident caused temporary disruption to passenger flow and congested vehicle traffic entering the airport, resulting in delays at both arrival and departure levels. The airport’s security checkpoints remained operational, but travelers experienced additional wait times.
Airport officials confirmed that the Miami‑Dade Bomb Squad was on scene to assess the bag’s contents. After completing the evaluation, authorities issued an all‑clear signal, allowing normal airport operations to resume. The airport advised passengers that minor delays might persist while traffic and security procedures returned to standard levels.
