Homestead School Educator Detained After Alleged Harassment Incident
A 34‑year‑old teacher in Homestead, Florida, was taken into custody on Monday after a report of battery at First United Methodist Christian School.
The incident involved Michael Alvarez, who teaches at the school located at 622 N. Krome Avenue. School parents alleged that Alvarez had taped their child’s mouth shut following a disagreement.
Homestead police responded after receiving the complaint and interviewed the parents at the school. Detectives investigated the claim and charged Alvarez with simple battery.
A search of the school’s premises confirmed the allegations. Alvarez was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and posted a $1,000 bond.
Police are reviewing the case as part of a routine investigation into teacher conduct. The status of any additional charges remains pending.
