Costco tweaks its beloved $1.50 hot dog and soda deal
Costco has added a water bottle option to its long‑standing $1.50 hot‑dog meal, which historically has come with a 20‑ounce soda. The new “Hot Dog & Water Combo” is listed side by side with the original “Hot Dog & Soda Combo” on the store’s menu. The price remains unchanged at $1.50, and the bundle still includes a refill.
The update was first spotted on social media in early 2024, when a customer posted a screenshot of the revised menu. The option was already available in some locations, such as a Toronto store, where shoppers had been able to order the combo with water for several months.
Costco corporate has not issued a public statement regarding the change. The company’s CFO, Gary Millerchip, confirmed in its Q3 2024 earnings call that the $1.50 price is expected to stay stable, following earlier assurances from former CFO Richard Galanti that the price would remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.
The hot‑dog deal, first introduced in the 1980s, remains a staple of Costco’s food court, a part of the membership warehouse’s broader strategy to offer low‑priced, high‑volume items to its more than 600 U.S. locations.
