Man repeatedly removes sunglasses from South Beach shop during bond arrest
A 26‑year‑old man was arrested on March 8 by Miami Beach police after he entered Solstice Sunglasses on Lincoln Road, walked in, and stole two pairs of sunglasses. The suspect, Juan Carlos Manzaneraz‑Juarez, was booked on a grand theft charge and released on a $2,500 bond.
The suspect returned to the shop on March 26 at about 2:30 a.m., destroyed a glass window with a metal pipe, and entered the store through the damaged door. He selected roughly 20 pairs of sunglasses, worth an estimated $12,000, and left the premises.
Afterward, a Lincoln Road ambassador reported the front door shattering again at about 8:30 a.m. Surveillance footage around 5 a.m. corroborated that Manzaneraz‑Juarez returned, used a pole to break the front door, and took approximately 33 pairs, valued at about $19,000, within a minute before exiting.
Police issued a wanted flyer and identified the suspect as a homeless individual. He was later arrested for breach of the peace on the beach near 16th Street. A search of his backpack uncovered about two dozen pairs of sunglasses still bearing tags and anti‑theft devices.
Manzaneraz‑Juarez now faces six additional felony charges, including burglary. As of Monday afternoon, he was held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a bond exceeding $40,000, with a requirement to prove lawful sources for any bail money.
