Tyra Banks sues Netflix over ‘America’s Next Top Model’ doc – NBC 6 South Florida

Tyra Banks files lawsuit against streaming platform over modeling series

Tyra Banks filed a defamation complaint against Netflix on Saturday, alleging the streamer manipulated her participation in the documentary series “Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.” The lawsuit claims that Banks’ interview footage was edited to create a false narrative, implying she approved a contestant’s sexual assault and that she could not recall hearing about the incident. Banks asserts she agreed to the project to discuss the show’s history and was not informed of the alleged accusations during the interview.

Netflix has not issued a statement regarding the suit. Banks is seeking unspecified damages for loss of future business opportunities, lost income, and harm to her personal brand, noting a decline in ratings for her ice‑cream business, SMiZE & DREAM, after the series aired. The lawsuit accuses Netflix of omitting context from a 3½‑hour interview, airing only 16 minutes that misrepresented her comments.

The petition was filed in federal court. No official response from Netflix has been made public.
