Three arrested, $7M cocaine seized along Miami shoreline.
Miami – On Sunday, a U.S. Coast Guard vessel intercepted a suspected drug‑smuggling boat about one mile east of Cape Florida. The operation was coordinated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations and the CBP Office of Field Operations.
The interdiction resulted in the seizure of roughly 900 pounds of cocaine, valued at an estimated $6.7 million. Three suspects were taken into custody by federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Miami Division, which is continuing the investigation.
Lt. Matthew Ross, commanding officer of Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, described the effort as part of a broader, multi‑agency strategy to disrupt transnational criminal organizations involved in narcotics trafficking.
The Coast Guard retains lead responsibility for maritime drug interdiction, while Customs and Border Protection focuses on securing the nation’s borders through land, air, and sea operations. No further details about the suspects have been released as the case remains active.
