Police Detain Suspect After Beach Chair Incident in Surfside.
Police in Surfside, Florida, arrested 50‑year‑old Yacov Levi on Wednesday night at the beach behind the Solimar condominium. Officers were responding to reports of a disturbance involving a beach chair that was reserved for residents. Levi was found seated on the chair and was accused of threatening other men about chair access.
According to an arrest report, Levi allegedly stood up a drill to seek a hole for a beach umbrella and attempted to hit one man with an umbrella, while aiming a drill at a second individual. He reportedly told a man, “I am going to kill you,” and resisted police, remaining seated and kicking an officer during the arrest.
Levi was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and charged with attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a police officer, and criminal mischief. Court documents show the case will be heard before Miami‑Dade County Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez.
Levi has a prior record in Miami‑Beach, including arrests in 2018 for burglary and petty theft, and in 2023 for lewd behavior, grand theft, battery, and resisting arrest. Those earlier charges were dropped.
