Major film banners previewed during recent CinemaCon showcase
Paramount Skydance premiered new projects at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, beginning with a keynote from chief executive David Ellison. The studio revealed a third installment of the “Top Gun” franchise starring Tom Cruise, set for a 2025 release. A trailer for “Jackass: Best and Last,” the fifth film in the series, debuted with a scheduled June 26 release.
Disney’s presentation highlighted the forthcoming “The Mandalorian and Grogu” film, scheduled for May 22, and “Toy Story 5,” which will release on June 19. A preview of “Whalefall,” based on Daniel Klaus’s novel, was shown, with a planned October 16 release. Hollywood staple “Avengers: Doomsday” was also unveiled, set to premiere on December 18.
Warner Bros. introduced “Digger,” a dark comedy featuring Cruise directed by Alejandro Iñárritu, slated for October 2. “Practical Magic 2” will arrive in September, while “Dune: Part III,” directed by Denis Villeneuve, is scheduled for December 18.
Sony and Universal screened new titles, including “Spiderman: Brand New Day” releasing July 31 and Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” opening July 17. The event also showcased Sony’s “The Social Reckoning” and Universal’s “Disclosure Day.”
