Taylor Frankie Paul barred from unsupervised visits with son
The Utah Third District Court Commissioner ruled that Taylor Frankie Paul cannot have unsupervised time with her 2‑year‑old son, Ever Mortensen, after a hearing that examined violent incidents between Paul and the boy’s father, court commissioner Russell Minas. The decision comes amid concurrent petitions for protective orders filed by both parties. Paul, who had primary custody before the temporary order, was granted eight hours per week of supervised visitation pending a final hearing on April 30.
The case centers on several altercations, some captured on video, including a 2023 incident in which Paul punched, kicked and threw chairs at Mortensen while an infant watched. Paul was charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child; she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and other counts were dismissed.
Both sides presented testimony and photographs of injuries. Police are investigating the February “truck tussle” and a subsequent fight. The court emphasized Paul’s history of volatile behavior around children.
The ruling reflects official concerns about Paul’s ability to control herself in the presence of the child. The next hearing will determine the duration and terms of any protective order.
