Miami Man Arrested Over Multiple Package Heists; Authorities Probe More Victims
A 22‑year‑old man, Jeyner Francisco Monzon, was taken into custody by the Miami Police Department Thursday after a theft of Amazon packages occurred on April 16 at a residence near the 1500 block of Northwest 53rd Street in Brownsville. The victim reported that several Amazon deliveries, including dog supplies and jewelry cleaning products, had been taken from his front porch the morning of the incident.
Ring camera footage, captured by the homeowner, showed Monzon on a black bicycle arriving at approximately 11:44 a.m. He was seen placing the packages into a black backpack before departing eastbound toward Northwest 15th Avenue about a minute later. The police used the footage to create a flyer that helped locate and identify Monzon for arrest.
Following his arrest, Monzon was taken to MPD headquarters, read his Miranda rights, and interviewed. He waived his rights and was shown the surveillance video. He faces one count each of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and petit theft of a dwelling or curtilage.
Mzon is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on an immigration hold, with bond to be set. Miami police are investigating possible connections to other unreported package thefts and encourage potential victims to contact the MPD General Investigations Unit or Miami‑Dade Crime Stoppers.
