Sucker punch, gun threat over mistaken bump at McDonald’s lands man in super-sized trouble: Cops

Man arrested for false gun threat after McDonald’s bump.

Police arrested Clifford Atis, 36, on Thursday afternoon in Sunny Isles Beach after a confrontation at the McDonald’s on Collins Avenue. Atis had been inside the restaurant when an employee, who had been attempting to pick up a DoorDash delivery, inadvertently brushed him. Atis responded with a punch and threatened the delivery person with a firearm before leaving the premises toward his vehicle.

After Atis exited, the employees approached him and requested that he wait for police. When Atis emerged from his car holding an item believed to be a gun, the employees retreated into the restaurant. Officers later recovered the weapon from Atis’s vehicle.

Atis was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm (twice) and one count of battery. He was taken into custody and held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center under a $10,000 bond. The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities.
