South Florida ramps up anti-trafficking efforts ahead of World Cup matches

South Florida boosts anti‑trafficking actions before World Cup games.

South Florida authorities are expanding services for human trafficking survivors as the region prepares to host seven football matches at Hard Rock Stadium. The World Cup is projected to bring more than one million visitors to the area, prompting organizers to heighten vigilance and support systems for vulnerable populations.

A partnership with Camillus House has added 50 temporary beds across its ten Miami‑Dade locations during the event. The organization offers rooms that include private bathrooms and showers, ensuring safe accommodation for those escaping trafficking.

Camillus House will address immediate housing needs before coordinating with partner agencies on further steps to assist survivors. The organization’s leadership emphasized the aim to restore dignity and facilitate long‑term recovery for affected individuals.

The initiative follows concerns that large international events can increase trafficking activity due to the influx of tourists. Local authorities and non‑profits have announced the expansion as part of a broader strategy to protect residents and visitors during the World Cup period.
