Miami residents charged with drug offenses in Florida Keys

In Key Largo, Florida, authorities detained a 25‑year‑old landscaper named Nicholas Pichardo and a 29‑year‑old behavioral therapist, Claudia Yero, after a traffic stop on U.S. 1 on May 22.

Deputies reported that Pichardo was driving a Ram pickup while under the influence and with an expired Florida driver’s license. The vehicle was found to contain fentanyl, cocaine and ecstasy.

Following the stop, Pichardo was booked into jail where he attempted to smuggle oxycodone pills into the facility. He now faces nine counts, including drug possession, driving under the influence, marijuana possession, cocaine possession and contraband smuggling.

Yero was charged with three counts: two counts of drug possession and cocaine possession.

The arrests were made by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. No further statements have been released at this time.
