19‑Year‑Old Arrested in North Miami Charger Hit‑and‑Run Injuring Pedestrian
A 19‑year‑old North Miami resident was arrested Monday after a Dodge Charger struck a pedestrian. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. near 476 NE 125th St., a shopping‑center area in North Miami, Florida. Police reports say the driver, Samuel Shiete O’Reilly, hit the victim as the man attempted to cross the road. A cellphone video captured the vehicle moving east after the crash.
Emergency responders transported the injured individual to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he received treatment for a severe head laceration. Medical personnel assessed the injury as serious but did not indicate life‑threatening conditions.
Police located O’Reilly and the car about two hours later in the same parking lot near Jimmy’s Diner. The driver claimed he returned to check on the victim and explained the crash happened while pursuing a client who allegedly did not pay for services. He admitted to striking the pedestrian and fleeing the scene.
O’Reilly was charged with leaving the scene of a crash that caused serious bodily injury. He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center under a $2,500 bond.
