Homestead teen remains missing after month of searches

Police in Homestead, Florida are conducting an ongoing search for a missing 14‑year‑old girl. The teenager, identified as Yarilis Mendez‑Carrillo, was reported missing by her grandmother on March 11. Authorities say she was last observed in the 300 block of Southwest 12th Avenue.

Mendez‑Carrillo reportedly does not own a cellphone and has had no contact since her disappearance. She is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 4 ft 7 in. tall and 130 lb. with black hair, brown eyes, and a notable circular scar on her upper right thigh. She was last seen wearing a white T‑shirt and blue shorts.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has issued a Missing Child Alert to support the search. Information requests are being handled by the Homestead Police Department and Miami‑Dade Crime Stoppers.
