Driver accused of crashing into police car while trying to run over 2 men in Miami-Dade

Driver crashes police car, attempts to hit two men in Miami‑Dade.

A 32‑year-old man from Kissimmee was arrested on Saturday after a high‑speed incident on Interstate 95 in Miami‑Dade County. Police reports state that the suspect was driving a black Toyota Corolla and reversed into a black Mitsubishi SUV near the Miami Gardens Drive interchange. He attempted to drive into two men who fled, then struck a concrete wall and a police vehicle, including a sergeant’s unmarked car.

After the crashes, the suspect exited the vehicle holding a knife. A police officer fired a warning shot and ordered the man to drop the weapon. The suspect complied, surrendered, and handcuffs were applied by responding officers.

Firefighters transported the suspect to Jackson Memorial North Hospital. He was booked shortly after 7:55 p.m. at the Turner‑Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He now faces new charges of aggravated battery on a law‑enforcement officer and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

A judge denied bond for the battery charge involving a police officer and set a $15,000 bond for the other two counts. An existing warrant for reckless driving with property or person damage carried a $500 bond.
