Federal Fugitive Arrested in Hialeah Following Taser Incident and Joint Search
A 41‑year‑old man, identified as Yam Perera Nunez, was taken into custody in Miami‑Dade County after a federal fugitive search. The arrest occurred outside a Walgreens at the corner of West 68th Street and 12th Avenue on April 23, 2026, when Hialeah police K‑9 units and Florida Highway Patrol officers converged on the suspect.
Prior to the arrest, troopers had attempted to stop Nunez on Okeechobee Road in the Pembroke Road area the day before. He refused to comply and fled the scene, abandoning his truck on Northwest 137th Avenue. The pursuit ended when he was apprehended on foot near the Walgreens.
During the arrest, video footage captured by bystanders showed Nunez being tased, falling face‑first onto the roadway, and being quickly surrounded by officers. The incident was recorded by local television crews, who also observed a sports car with front‑end damage being towed away by authorities.
Nunez faces a range of federal charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing and eluding, battery, resisting arrest with violence, and grand theft. Law‑enforcement officials have confirmed the arrest and said he will be processed under federal jurisdiction.
