Fake contractor scams southwest Miami-Dade church school out of 3K, deputies say

Deputies expose fraudster siphoning $223K from southwest Miami‑Dade church school.

A 50‑year‑old businessman operating Creed Metal, Nestor Olivares, was taken into custody on Saturday after authorities accused him of defrauding St. Kevin Catholic School in Miami‑Dade County. Olivares had entered a contract in September 2024 to install 13 aluminum roof structures for the school at 4001 SW 127th Ave. The school later reported that he failed to deliver the materials or perform the work and that he did not hold a valid contractor’s license.

Investigators noted that Olivares claimed he would refund the school by February 25th, 2026, yet no payment was made. He also provided the school with fabricated bank documents to falsely indicate a wire transfer had been completed. The alleged fraud and forgery, amounting to over $223,000, prompted a federal arrest report.

Olivares was arrested at his residence on Southwest 126th Avenue, about a half mile from the school, while awaiting a hearing. He faces first‑degree grand theft, forgery, and a violation of the county ordinance that prohibits contracting without a license.

He is currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $30,150 bond. The bond is contingent on proving the legitimacy of the funding source. The case is ongoing.
