Ex‑paymaster charged with stealing $1.5 million from Miami physician office

Miami police arrested Rachel Lynne Poor, 40, of Coral Springs, on Thursday for multiple felony charges. Poor was employed as the payroll manager at Miami Back & Neck Specialists, a medical office on Biscayne Boulevard.

Investigators said Poor altered payroll records, increasing her own biweekly salary by $1,720 from September 2021 to January 2024 and awarding herself unauthorized bonuses up to $25,000. Records show she accumulated more than $1.09 million in wages and bonuses while directing company funds.

The clinic’s owner reported the fraud in June 2024 after the new payroll manager discovered the irregularities. Poor had also used the company’s credit card for purchases totaling $411,737, which were not approved by the clinic.

Detectives transported Poor to Broward County from Miami on Thursday and placed her in custody at home. She faces charges of first‑degree grand theft, organized scheme to defraud, and credit card fraud.

Poor is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $35,000 bond, with the case pending further court proceedings.
