CinemaCon Reveals Newly Unveiled Mandalorian Trailer Footage

The Walt Disney Co. presented a major lineup of new films and updates at CinemaCon on Thursday. The company screened the opening of the upcoming “Star Wars” movie, which begins on May 22, and showcased footage from a forthcoming film titled “Avengers: Doomsday.” The “Doomsday” clip features actor Chris Evans as the antagonist Victor Von Doom, marking his first appearance in the franchise since his Iron Man roles. Robert Downey Jr. introduced the clip, noting that the film will reunite the Avengers and X‑Men for the first time in a Marvel Studios release.

The “Star Wars” segment was directed by Jon Favreau, who highlighted a first‑look scene set on a snowy cliff where a lone Mandalorian and Grogu confront an ex‑warlord. Favreau also mentioned that the new film contains over 49 minutes of footage suitable for large‑format screens.

During the event, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen appeared on behalf of “Toy Story 5,” revealing a new scene of Woody’s return to Bonnie’s home. The film is scheduled to open on June 19. Dwayne Johnson closed the presentation by promoting the live‑action “Moana,” in which he reprises Maui; the new lead character, Catherine Laga’aia, made a cameo with Johnson onstage.

Disney’s presentation highlighted the studio’s 2025 box‑office performance, noting $2.5 billion in domestic sales and $6.6 billion worldwide, with recent hits including “Hoppers” and the upcoming “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” The company also announced a layoff plan expected to affect about 1,000 employees across its studio and marketing divisions.
