Tony Award Shortlist Announced: Full 2026 Nominee Roster Released
The 2026 Tony Awards nominations were announced Tuesday, with 24 Broadway productions receiving at least one nod across the 26 categories. “The Lost Boys,” an adaptation of a 1987 vampire film, and “Schmigadoon!,” a musical that parodies classic Broadway songs, each led the field with twelve nominations. The revival of “Ragtime” earned eleven nods, while Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman,” starring Nathan Lane in its Broadway debut, received nine.
Actor June Squibb became the oldest person ever nominated for a Tony at age 96, surpassing Lois Smith’s 2020 record. Danny Burstein now holds the record for most male acting nominations with nine. Kelli O’Hara tied Rosemary Harris for third on the all‑time acting nominations list with her ninth nomination.
The nominees for best new musical include “Titanique,” a comedic reimagining of “Titanic,” and the rom‑com “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York).” Best new play nominees feature John Lithgow‑led “Giant,” Bess Wohl’s “Liberation,” David Lindsay‑Abaire’s “The Balusters,” and Samuel D. Hunter’s “Little Bear Ridge Road.”
The awards ceremony will take place June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, televised live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. The event follows the previous year’s ceremony hosted by Cynthia Erivo, which attracted 4.85 million viewers.
