Fort Lauderdale deputy hospitalized after hit‑and‑run collision.
A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy sustained injuries after a collision with a black Hyundai SUV near the intersection of West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 11th Avenue on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Video shows the deputy’s patrol vehicle struck by the SUV’s driver side, causing significant damage and deploying airbags. The driver fled the scene immediately following the impact.
A witness observed the SUV running a red light before striking the deputy’s car, which then spun along Broward Boulevard until it stopped. The deputy was extracted from the vehicle by paramedics and transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the deputy’s current medical status.
Broward County law‑enforcement officers cleared the crash scene and began an active search for the escapee. Investigators are examining the remains of the vehicle and identifying the driver. The driver remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
