Man accused of Tupac Shakur killing seeks to suppress evidence

Defendant in Tupac murder case attempts to withhold evidence.

Defenders for Duane “Keffe D” Davis, charged with the 1996 drive‑by shooting that killed rapper Tupac Shakur, have filed a motion seeking to exclude evidence obtained during a nighttime search of his Henderson home. The attorneys, Robert Draskovich and William Brown, argue that the warrant was granted on the basis of an inaccurate portrayal of Davis.

Draskovich and Brown claim the court relied on a misleading depiction of Davis as a dangerous drug dealer, while the client is a 60‑year‑old former gang leader who left the narcotics business in 2008. Davis now works as an inspection specialist for oil refineries and has lived with his wife in Henderson for nine years.

The police entered the residence after dark, taking electronic devices, alleged marijuana and photographic material. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officials said the nocturnal execution was intended to secure the home and reduce exposure to neighboring residents.

The defendant was arrested in September 2023 and pleaded not guilty to first‑degree murder. He has sought release since his arrest and remains in custody.

The motion was submitted Monday. Police have declined to comment on the pending litigation.
