5K Charity Race Draws Brickell Residents to Support Community Programs
A run of 500 participants took place Sunday morning in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood for the fourth annual Race for Our Future 5K. The race covered a distance of three miles and was organized to raise funds and awareness for the Cleo Institute, a nonprofit focused on extreme weather and climate change issues.
Organizers distributed information about the institute’s mission to promote environmental awareness. Food vendors and local street vendors were present to serve participants and spectators.
Zoo Miami director Ron Magill was among the attendees, expressing concern about Florida’s rising temperatures and severe storms as indicators of climate change.
No injuries or incidents were reported during the event. The Cleo Institute confirmed that the money raised will support its educational outreach and public engagement programs.
