McDonald’s offers new Stranger Things Happy Meals with game‑inspired items
McDonald’s has partnered with Netflix to launch a limited‑edition Happy Meal that ties in with the new animated series “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.” The promotion began on April 28 in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Peru and Slovenia, with U.S. locations receiving the meal on May 5. The rollout is planned to extend into August, covering additional markets worldwide.
Each Happy Meal contains a themed box, a collectible character toy (twelve variants are available), an activity book, and a QR code that grants access to a digital interactive game. The game, themed around the show’s characters, allows children to join the “Hawkins Investigators Club” in battling monsters in the fictional town of Hawkins.
The campaign opens in time for the series premiere, which follows the original cast as they return to normal life in 1985 after closing the gate to the Upside‑Down, only to face a new mystery. McDonald’s has previously collaborated with Netflix for a “KPop Demon Hunters” menu, which featured themed breakfast, lunch, and dessert items. The current partnership focuses solely on the Happy Meal product line and related digital content.
