Miami police escort man to safety after roof jump threat.
Police officers in Miami Beach responded to the Citizen Hotel at 1200 Lincoln Road around 2:52 a.m. on Monday after reports that a man was threatening to leap from the sixth‑floor roof. Officers found the individual pacing along the edge of the building.
Negotiation efforts began shortly thereafter. It took several hours before crisis negotiators were able to lower the man off the roof and escort him back onto the hotel property.
During the negotiation, the man expressed a desire to speak with his deceased father, suggesting a personal loss contributed to his actions. Investigators later located suicide notes in his hotel room.
Medical staff evaluated the man at the scene and transported him to Mount Sinai Medical Center for additional treatment. No injuries were reported among the officers or other individuals involved.
The incident is currently under investigation by Miami Beach police, with no further statements released at this time.
