Look Ahead: Details Revealed for the 2026 Met Gala
The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host its 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 4. The event, held each first Monday in May, serves as a major fundraiser for the Costume Institute. Last year’s benefit raised over $31 million, and the 2025 edition is expected to generate a similar amount.
The gala’s theme is “Costume Art,” which will showcase 200 garments alongside 200 museum objects that trace the history of fashion and art. The exhibition will open at the newly repurposed Conde M. Nast Galleries, a 12,000‑square‑foot space formerly used as a retail store. This location allows guests easier passage between the exhibit and the dinner venue, the Temple of Dendur.
Beyoncé and Nicole Kidman co‑chair the event, joined by tennis star Venus Williams and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. A host committee, led by designer Anthony Vaccarello and filmmaker Zoë Kravitz, includes Sabrina Carpenter, Teyana Taylor, Lena Dunham, and Misty Copeland.
Lead sponsors Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos will honor the event, though the museum has not disclosed the amount of their contribution. Activist group Everyone Hates Elon has issued a protest against the sponsorship, posting anti‑founder messages on subway displays.
