Rider Assaults Chauffeur, Crashes Vehicle After Cocaine Conflict

In Tamarac, Florida, a 27‑year‑old woman was arrested for attempting to assault a driver on February 25. The victim, an Uber driver, reported that the passenger asked him to stop snorting cocaine while she threatened him with a pen and shouted a threat of stabbing. The driver said the woman spat on him, kicked and punched him, and damaged the vehicle, estimating over $4,480 in damage.

The incident occurred at the Publix store on 8245 North Pine Island Road. Law enforcement, following the driver’s lead, located the woman at a residence in Lauderdale Lakes where she was identified as Sancia Beckford, a Jamaica-born resident.

Deputies questioned Beckford on April 8. She admitted to the spitting incident but denied threatening to stab the driver. She was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and criminal mischief.

As of Monday, the case was still pending. No injuries other than damage to the vehicle were reported, and the driver’s property was already in the process of assessment for repair costs.
