Student detained at South Broward High School after ‘security concern’

Student taken into custody at South Broward High for security issue

A student at South Broward High School in Hollywood was taken into custody early Monday morning after a disruption at a school event. Hollywood Police responded to the school at 1901 N. Federal Highway following a “security concern” and temporarily closed the campus while searching for the student.

The student was located and detained, and police confirmed that all students and staff remained safe during the incident. A lockdown was imposed for a brief period, after which law enforcement lifted it and the school returned to its normal schedule.

According to remarks from several seniors, the incident began when the student was being screened at security, declined a pat‑down, and then entered the school through a gate. Security officers were able to apprehend the individual before he could cause further disruption.

Police remain the only source of confirmed information on the case, stating that the student has been taken into custody and that no injuries were reported. No further details about the student’s identity or the exact reason for the disruption have been released.
