Retail thieves dispatch pilfered merchandise nationwide.

A 52‑year‑old BJ’s Wholesale Club employee from Boca Raton was arrested Monday by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies in Parkland. The law‑enforcement agency cited an anonymous tip that led to a review of the employee’s suspicious activity.

Investigators say the employee, identified as John Stevens, removed merchandise from the sales floor at the Parkland store located at 5901 W. Hillsboro Blvd. between March and June. Surveillance footage shows him transporting items to a shipping room and using the company’s UPS computer to forward the goods to addresses across the United States, including his own residence.

Authorities estimate that 27 shipping events cost the company roughly $10,000. Stevens is charged with grand theft involving a value between $10,000 and $20,000, organized dealing in stolen property, and an additional 25 counts of dealing in stolen property.

On Tuesday he was held in the Broward County Mail Jail with a $25,000 bond. No further developments have been released at this time.
