Nick Reiner Faces Court Hearing Over Parents’ Murders
Nick Reiner entered a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on March 6 for a brief hearing regarding the December 14 murders of his parents, director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Reiner. He entered a plea of not guilty to first‑degree murder charges that were filed on December 16. The charges include a special circumstance of multiple murders and an allegation that a knife was used.
At the hearing, Reiner, in yellow jail clothing, acknowledged the judge’s instructions and did not speak further. Prosecutors reported they are still awaiting the autopsy report, which is required for trial preparation. The next court date is set for September 15, when a preliminary hearing will determine whether Reiner will be arraigned for trial.
Reiner is currently held without bail and represented by a public defender. A sealed medical order related to his mental health has been filed, and the medical examiner has confirmed that the deaths were caused by multiple sharp‑force injuries. The case remains active, and no verdict has yet been reached.
