Miami Officers and Firefighters Compete in World Cup Training Game
Miami police and firefighters played a friendly soccer match on Saturday at Curtis Park, a city‑run venue used for preparation around the FIFA World Cup. The match was organized to promote community engagement and build relationships between first‑responder departments before the international tournament.
The game was held under brief rain showers. Officials described the event as a showcase of the first responders’ teamwork and community‑building efforts. The participating teams were led by Miami Fire Rescue Lieutenant Pete Sanchez, who noted that firefighters have been training in anticipation of increased duties during the World Cup.
Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins attended, commenting on the departments’ collaboration and expressing satisfaction with their partnership regardless of the match outcome. She emphasized the importance of public‑safety agencies working together throughout the event.
