McDonald’s faces backlash over McValue menu – NBC 6 South Florida

McDonald’s Faces Public Outcry After Low‑Price Menu Launch

McDonald’s introduced its McValue Menu on April 21, offering select sandwiches and sides for under $3 nationwide. The menu lists items such as the McDouble, priced at $2.50, and the Sausage McMuffin, priced at $1.50. Breakfast options include a $4 deal featuring a Sausage McMuffin or Sausage Biscuit with hash browns, small coffee, and a choice of sides. Meal deals later in the day provide a McChicken for $5 and a McDouble for $6, each including four nuggets, small fries, and a small drink.

Customer reactions have been mixed. Some consumers on social media criticize the pricing, questioning the value of bundled meals that cost up to $7. Others defend the promotions, citing convenience and the flexible nature of the McValue offerings. The debate reflects broader discussions about value pricing in fast‑food chains.

McDonald’s spokespersons emphasized that the McValue Menu is designed to adapt to customer needs, offering flexibility without mandatory bundling. The company stated that early performance indicators match expectations.

CEO Chris Kempczinski noted during the Q1 earnings call that awareness of the new program is still growing and that the company will monitor its progress. The McValue Menu remains available at participating locations.
