Russian fraud ring trains man to pilfer costly FedEx packages
A 43‑year‑old man from Hollywood, Florida, was arrested after several high‑value FedEx packages were stolen in South Florida. Police say he confessed that the thefts were part of a “delivery job” he found through a Telegram chat group for Russians in America. The indictment includes roles such as courier and fake‑ID creator.
The investigation began when a customer tried to pick up a $53,500 Rolex from a FedEx Office Print & Ship Center in Doral on May 15. Workers discovered the package had already been withdrawn the previous day. Facial‑recognition software identified the collector as the suspect, who used a counterfeit Florida driver’s license bearing the victim’s personal information and photo.
Employees at a downtown Miami FedEx location stopped him while officers were en route. He admitted to completing up to five jobs, including the Rolex theft, and was found with a laptop and additional forged licenses.
The defendant faces seven felony counts, including organized fraud and identity theft, and is being held at the Turner‑Guilford‑Knight Correctional Center on a $55,000 bond.
