Police officers embark on 270‑mile ride to salute fallen heroes
A charity bicycle tour began Monday morning in North Miami Beach, Florida, as law‑enforcement officers traveled to honor deceased colleagues. The 30th annual Florida Tour de Force will cover 270 miles over five days, concluding in Daytona Beach.
The ride commemorated two South Florida officers who died in 2025. Deputy Devin Jaramillo of the Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office was killed when he was shot by a suspect, and Sergeant David Cajuso of the Miami Beach Police Department died in a motorcycle collision. Officer Rick Lonergan of the Miami Beach Police Department rode in tribute to Cajuso.
State and local police will provide escorts for the riders, with planned stops every 12 to 15 miles along the Atlantic coast to accommodate both experienced cyclists and cyclists riding for a cause. The event is open to a broad range of participants.
All proceeds from the ride will be directed to the families of the fallen officers. The Tour de Force is scheduled to finish in Daytona Beach, with the last day of riding expected to fall on April 18, 2026.
