Grass fire near Miami Executive Airport mostly contained, but smoke lingers

Miami Executive Airport grass fire largely subdued, smoke remains.

A brush fire began on Sunday near Miami Executive Airport and spread through the Boystown Pineland County Park area, close to Southwest 120th Street and 142nd Avenue.

Fire crews reported that the incident had consumed 25 acres by Monday and that the blaze was 65 percent contained. The fire was driven by strong winds, heat, and humidity, which also caused extensive smoke coverage in the surrounding neighborhood.

Local residents expressed concern about air quality. Daniel Reyes, owner of a nearby gym, noted the difficulty of maintaining normal exercise routines due to the smoke.

Firefighters remained on scene on Monday to extinguish remaining hot spots and prevent further spread.

The fire remains under control with no reported injuries or property damage. Authorities continue to monitor the area for any changes in status.
