County officials rename Palm Beach airport for Donald Trump

Palm Beach County officials finalized a deal to rename Palm Beach International Airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport. The decision followed a bill signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis and a vote by county commissioners. The change adds a naming‑rights agreement with Donald Trump Trademark Operations LLC, a company linked to former President Trump.

Commissioners said the agreement requires the airport to remove existing signage and branding at an estimated cost of $5.5 million. County officials expect to recover these funds from the state. The Trump organization will not receive royalties from sales of Trump‑branded items at the airport, but may sell airport‑branded goods off site under a non‑exclusive clause.

The county cited potential penalties for rejecting the agreement and emphasized protection for residents. Airport operations remain unchanged, but the Federal Aviation Administration must approve the name change. If approved, the International Air Transport Association code may shift from PBI to DJT. The renaming reflects the airport’s frequent use by Trump when traveling to his Mar‑a‑Lago estate.
