Apple TV Peanuts Film Unveils Charlie Brown’s Secret Correspondent
Apple TV will stream an animated feature titled “Snoopy Unleashed” in 2027. The 80‑minute film extends the long‑running “Peanuts” franchise with a new storyline. It highlights friendship themes amid contemporary contexts.
Mia, a young London woman who uses a wheelchair, visits the comic’s main character, Charlie Brown, during the film. Her arrival forces Charlie to confront feelings of self‑image and kinship. The narrative follows the gang and Mia on a city‑wide adventure.
Craig Schulz, son of the original creator, co‑wrote the script with his son Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, and Karey Kirkpatrick. Director Steve Martino and producer Bonnie Arnold oversaw the project. Vocal artist Lara Mehmet secured the role of Mia after a formal audition.
The filmmaking team consulted disability groups, including Disability Belongs, to ensure authenticity of Mia’s portrayal. The story aims to reflect diverse experiences in animation while maintaining Peanuts’ core values. The production incorporated input from advocacy professionals.
Apple TV continues its Peanuts expansion with releases such as “Camp Snoopy” season two and a new special in July. The original strip ran in more than 2,600 newspapers worldwide until 2000. “Snoopy Unleashed” is positioned as part of the platform’s ongoing effort to bring the franchise to a modern audience.
