Matt Brown Survives River Search, Alaskan Bush People Star Reported Missing

A body recovered from the Okanogan River was identified by the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office as Matt Brown, a former cast member of the Discovery Channel series “Alaskan Bush People.” The body was pulled by a private search team on Saturday, and the county coroner confirmed the identification. A coroner will determine the cause and manner of death, and the sheriff’s office offered condolences to the Brown family.

Matt Brown died between 2014 and 2019 while appearing on the show. He had publicly discussed struggles with alcohol. His brothers, Noah and Bear Brown, posted on social media confirming his death; Noah stated he was present when the body was retrieved. Bear mentioned lingering concerns about Matt’s personal struggles.

The body was found after a caller reported a man sitting in shallow river water near Oroville, Washington. A search was launched that same day, and law enforcement found a gun near the site. No representative for Brown or Warner Bros. Discovery has yet to comment.

Multiple volunteer groups, including two searching the river, were involved in the recovery effort.
