Miami Heat Sell Top Forward to Rival Team.

The Miami Heat have recently acquired guard Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a multi‑team deal that also sent forward Kevin Love to the Utah Jazz. The transaction was completed in the off‑season and Powell will finish the 2023‑24 season with the Heat at the current pace of his contract.

The Heat also hold the services of forward‑guard Andrew Wiggins, who accepted a contract that gives him a player option for the next season. Wiggins’ option allows him to elect free agency after the current season without the Heat receiving compensation.

Point guard Tyler Herro remains on a contract that extends through the 2026‑27 season, with a guaranteed salary of $33 million for that year. Forward Bam Adebayo’s contract is secured through the 2028‑29 season, providing long‑term stability at the power forward spot.

Miami’s first game following the roster changes will be held in Salt Lake City on January 24 against the Utah Jazz, the team that acquired Kevin Love in the earlier trade.

The NBA trade deadline for the 2023‑24 season is scheduled for February 5. Any future moves involving Wiggins, Powell, Herro, or other roster players will be considered at or before that date.

These roster moves and contract details are confirmed by official team announcements and league transaction records.
