Boca Raton Mayor Singer challenges Moskowitz for Congress

On Thursday, Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer announced a run for the U.S. House in Florida’s 23rd congressional district for the 2026 election. The seat is currently held by Democrat Jared Moskowitz and is viewed as a competitive race.

Singer’s platform highlights border security, national defense, waste reduction and tax relief, and he notes support from former President Donald Trump. He cites his mayoral tenure, emphasizing low taxes, reduced crime and greater city affordability.

The district’s Cook Political Report PVI is D+2, indicating a slight Democratic lean. Moskowitz secured recent victories by narrow margins, largely from Broward County voters. Republicans are exploring a mid‑decade redistricting that could expand the district’s Palm Beach County portions.

Singer is 49, a lawyer with degrees from Harvard and Georgetown. He has served on Boca Raton’s city council since 2014, was mayor from 2018 to 2023, and chairs a newly formed mayor’s council.

Other Republican candidates include former state Rep. George Moraitis and former nominee Joe Kaufman. The Republican primary will take place on August 18, determining who will face Moskowitz in the 2026 general election.
