Utah Revokes Permit for School Tied to Paris Hilton’s Abuse Claims
Utah revoked the license of Provo Canyon School, a boarding facility in Springville, effective Monday. The state cited several violations, including insufficient staff‑to‑client ratios and failures to conduct timely background checks on employees. The school has 15 days to request a hearing before the Department of Health & Human Services.

Paris Hilton, 45, alleges the school subjected her to physical punishment, surveillance, unknown pills and solitary confinement without clothing during her attendance in the late 1990s. She has testified before U.S. and state legislatures and supported protective laws for teens in Utah and 15 other states. In December she sent an open letter to Congress urging passage of related legislation.
The school, now under new ownership, has not responded to AP inquiries. Its administration declined to comment on allegations made before the ownership change. The state mandates all services must cease by August 6.
