Lauren Bennett, who contributed vocals to LMFAO’s 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem,” died at age 37. The singer was a member very of the pop group G.R.L., which formed in 2011 as a relaunch of the Pussycat Dolls. G.R.L. noted her passing on Monday.
The announcement appeared on the group’s Instagram account and was signed by G.R.L. members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen. The statement expressed sorrow and did not disclose a cause of death. Reports say the cause remains unknown.
Bennett’s career highlighted her vocal work on “Party Rock Anthem,” which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 for six weeks in 2011. The track was one of only two LMFAO singles to reach number one, the other being “Sexy and I Know It.” Bennett also performed with G.R.L. on hits such as “Ugly Heart” and appeared on Pitbull’s “Wild Wild Love.”
Simone Battle, another G.R.L. vocalist, passed away in 2014. The band originated as an evolution of the Pussycat Dolls and has pursued its own musical releases, including collaborative tracks.
