Judge cuts wife with butter knife at their Miami home, police say

Court official accused of stabbing spouse with kitchen knife in Miami.

A 79‑year‑old judge was arrested for felony aggravated battery after striking his wife with a butter knife in their Miami home. Police seized the incident at about 7 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Southwest 17th Street. An argument between the couple escalated when the wife moved to the kitchen. The judge allegedly grabbed her shoulder, forced her to defend herself, then used a butter knife to cut her left arm. The victim fled to a neighbor’s house, where the neighbour called her ex‑husband who brought her to an urgent care clinic.

The victim described the judge as impulsive, aggressive and possibly intoxicated. Officers noted the suspect had been drinking at the time of the attack. The judge denied the accusations and was booked onto a $5,000 bond. He is now held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center pending further proceedings.

Authorities confirmed the suspect’s name as Gerald Foulds, 79, a former administrative law judge appointed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals. Current employment status is unclear, as he does not appear in Florida Bar public listings. Investigation details remain pending.
